What is Iyengar Yoga?

Iyengar yoga is based on the teachings of BKS Iyengar who after 80 years of practicing yoga, passed away in 2014 aged 95. As one of the foremost teachers of yoga in the world, his legacy will continue to inspire teachers and practitioners everywhere. His method of yoga, meticulously and lovingly passed onto a vast network of teacher worldwide, focuses on precise alignment and detailed teaching instruction whilst bringing the mind into harmony with the physical body.

The use of props allows all levels and ability of students to access the yoga postures.

Teachers have to adhere to the most rigorous standards of training and accreditation and only those displaying the Iyengar Yoga certification mark can teach in the Iyengar method.
